Sorensen Institute Regions 2007-2008
BREAKING: The Sorensen Institute is proud to announce that we have launched an all-new Fredericksburg Regional Board. The founding Board members include Stephen Farnsworth, Peggy Garland (PLP 96, CTP 99), Frosty Landon, Diane Waltrip (PLP 98, CTP 99), and Robert Wittman. The new Fredericksburg Regional Board will help to identify and recruit prospective students in this part of Virginia for our various programs as well as to cultivate support for the Sorensen Institute from Fredericksburg-area donors.
Sean O'Brien is the Executive Director of the Sorensen Institute. "The move to launch an all-new Fredericksburg region, "O'Brien said today, "is in part a recognition of the realities of growth in that area. The Fredericksburg region has become a vibrant, sprawling metro area all its own—not quite Northern Virginia, not quite Richmond. Forming a new regional board to represent this booming and exciting part of the Commonwealth will allow us to focus our recruitment efforts here. Our goal is to see an increasing number of emerging adult and youth leaders from the Fredericksburg area take advantage of Sorensen programs."
Members of the new Fredericksburg Regional Board met for the first time yesterday afternoon with Sorensen staff. Their first order of business will be to identify future members of the Board in addition to possible applicants to the Political Leaders Program Class of 2008.
